In the modern age of dentistry, what is the best way to restore a tooth to its original biomimetic properties and structural integrity? Commonly, crowns have been recommended to restore broken down teeth however a traditional crown preparation can be quite destructive to certain teeth. The addition of a post can also increase the risk of tooth fracture. Is there a conservative alternative that can restore the strength of the tooth without removing unnecessary tooth structure? The presentation will discuss the rationale for using onlays and inlays as well as the different materials available for this mode of treatment.
